EMPEROR OF ACHNACARRY (Owned by Emma Cromar)

Image: Emperor of Achnacarry

Just to round off 2016 with this lovely photograph of Emperor of Achnacarry out hunting showing what the Achnacarry Highland Ponies are made off!
Emma hunts with him on a regular basis.
2016 was a good year for me starting with the birth of three lovely foals. A filly foal by Rannoch and two quality colt foals from Eros.
On what was a rare occasion I sold Swallow the filly foal to a very good home where there is already an Achnacarry pony.  Timothy was sold as a weaned foal and is now 9 years old so I know that Swallow will be loved and hopefully we shall see her in the show ring.
The Colt foal MacKenzie has been sold to a breeding home to long established breeders and if he fulfills their criteria he will hopefully breed them a few nice foals
The stud has also sold two 3 year old geldings again to lovely approved homes and we look forward to hearing about their progress.
We now look forward to 2017 with excitement at the progress of another boy a stallion we sold a few years ago.  Little Aigas of Achnacarry who qualified for HOYS in 2016 and did his rider and owners proud by only having one fence down.  He got top conformation points.

We now look forward to 2017 and the welcome arrival of new life.

19th November 2016

I decided to take two ponies to the Winter Fair at Lanark Market on 19th November and with Bruce Haliburton's help we took Selkie and Mac.  They are both 3 years old and half brother and sister.
Mac had a lot of handling as a youngster but had never been in a trailer nor had he ever been to a show.  However he showed Selkie up and loaded like a pro and travelled without a murmur.  He behaved very well and trotted out nicely for Bruce.  We were both delighted when he was pulled in first by Judge Sylvia Ormiston.  I couldn't have wished for more and since he is for sale this was a good start for him.

Rosanna foaled a nice strong Colt foal by Eros on Thursday evening 26th May.  He was soon up and sucking and seems very well in himself.
So unless Rowan decides she is in foal that will be the end of my foaling but I am extremely pleased with this years foals.

30th April 2016

Today we held our annual ride in aid of Equine Grass Sickness and we were so lucky with the weather considering we had at least 3" of snow the day before.  Approximately 14 riders came and enjoyed the ride through Pitmedden  forest and were rewarded with super views over the River Tay and beyond .  We raised £235 with the promise of some more.

The Stallion Show in March was our first venture out this year and I took my 3 year old filly, Selkie Bheag of Achnacarry to this new venue at Ingliston, Edinburgh. Although numbers not huge the standard of the ponies there was very good and we came home with a 2nd prize this time.  We had been hoping for a repeat of the Winter Fair in November but this was not to be.
Here we are in the ring.
